This timely webinar will highlight an initiative under development to create an insurance scheme in African countries to provide emergency financing for disease outbreaks. Country-level engagement to tailor the scheme to country needs and costing of outbreak responses to inform estimates of premiums will be specifically addressed. The presentation will be delivered by Paul Wilson, PhD, Assistant Professor of Clinical Population and Family Health at the Mailman School of Public Health of Columbia University. Prof. Wilson is an expert in global health policy. Some of his recent projects have focused on malaria drug subsidies, vaccine financing, and integration of vertical disease control programs into broader health systems.
