QALYs – Can you really attach a monetary value to someone’s life? How much is your life worth to your insurance company? To you? To society as a whole? These are all difficulty questions. How should we compensate pharmaceutical investors for the risks they take? In comparison, how do we compensate those in our society that risk their LIVES everyday – Police officers, firefighters, members of the armed forces? Maybe instead of trying to figure out the value of a QALY, we should be trying to decide on the value of risk taken. Take a look at the U.S. healthcare system thru the eyes of an economist, here.
