Veradigm Highlights Social Determinants of Health in New White Paper

February 24, 2020

Veradigm, a health information technology, analytics and intervention solutions company, in a new tHEORetically Speaking blog post highlights its new white paper on social determinants of health (SDOH).

According to the post, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) forecasts national health spending in the U.S. will almost touch $6 trillion by 2027. Providers and payers, Veradigm says, could help offset skyrocketing health costs by using SDOH.

“This understanding could lead to better patient/provider communication as well, since a vast majority of patients in a national survey indicated that they wanted their healthcare providers to ask about their social needs,” Veradigm says. “It isn’t sufficient to simply identify that unmet needs exist within a population. To fill those needs, we need to first determine what caused them.”
