The Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute Awards $259 Million in Comparative Effectiveness Research Projects, New Principles Include Utilizing RWD and Improving Equity

The Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) was established more than a decade ago to improve patient-centered research. The institute provides broad funding awards as well as targeted awards. Its $259 million in comparative effectiveness funding constitutes an 80% funding rate. It recently published several proposed principles, including improving equity in healthcare and supporting the use of real world data (RWD).

“Since its inception, the Institute has awarded over $2.7 billion to fund a range of patient-centered outcomes research and infrastructure-building activities.
