The Path to Improving Health Equity

The COVID-19 pandemic laid bare the health disparities in the US and abroad. Many healthcare stakeholders want to advance health equity, but lack the full scope of the situation or how to address it. In a new article on Biopharma Dive, Dr. Hansa Bhargava of Medscape Education and  Dr. John Whyte of WebMD talked with Medscape about carving a path to increased health equity for all.

According to Dr. Bhargava, “Morbidity and mortality related to the pandemic unfortunately was more concentrated in certain racial groups. Initially the spread of COVID tended to be worse in those in the lower socioeconomic strata. As we received more data, it became clear that inequities in health certainly resulted in worse outcomes for COVID-19.””
