The ISPOR Health Economics and Outcomes Research Competencies Framework

September 22, 2020

The International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR) has established a set of 41 competencies for HEOR professionals organized into 13 topic domains. These collectively comprise the ISPOR Health Economics and Outcomes Research Competencies Framework. The purpose of the framework is to serve as a tool to shape academic curricula, fellowships, continuing education programs, and to aid in evaluation of job candidates.

In HEOR, the types of jobs and diversity of topics in which professionals must demonstrate competence is ever-evolving. Future work will require revisiting the competencies to ensure their usefulness and comprehensiveness while tailoring the framework to the main specialty areas. Read more about the framework here.
