Technology can help researchers pull data from a variety of sources to help get a “fuller picture” of not only an individual person, but also groups of people, Duke University School of Medicine Vice Dean of Clinical Research Adrian Hernandez said during an interview with the American Journal of Managed Care.
“There’s a lot of technology around us every day, from our phones to our watches, to get our information that we can leverage that’s outside of a health system,” he says.
Hernandez says RWE offers a method of incorporating both the person’s desire to understand what they need and clinicians’ efforts to understand what they should offer.
“People try and understand what health decisions they should make in a better way among the many choices that they have,” Hernandez says.
