The 2018 Survey of America’s Physicians found a majority of physicians are getting burned out and in favor of a single-payer health care system, according to a Health Populi blog post.
With about 62 percent of doctors feeling pessimistic about the future of medicine, the survey found some 8 in 10 physicians are working at full capacity or are over extended, according to the post.
Furthermore, per the post, the Association of American Medical Colleges has forecasted a shortage of about 65,500 physicians in 2020, and 90,400 in 2025.
“Other studies on physician sentiment have found that the adoption of EHRs have negatively impacted workflow and, therefore, practice productivity — which is the financial lifeblood of a physician’s living,” the post states.
