A recent survey by Deloitte suggests that hospitals that have take up value-based care models are ramping up investments in health information technology to bolster population health management, data analytics and care coordination.
The researchers, according to a HealthITAnalytics report, also say hospitals will have to look beyond electronic health records (EHRs) as the shift toward value-based models continues.
“The evolving market shift from payments based on volume toward payments that emphasize outcomes and risk is one of the largest drivers of technology adoption,” the researchers state. “Health systems need to derive meaningful information from data to monitor patients and reward providers throughout the care journey.”
