Study’s Results a Blow to Popular Idea for Lower Health Costs

A popular idea that investing more resources into caring for the sickest and costliest patients could help cut health costs posted a big loss following a recent study published in the New England Journal of Medicine.

According to a Kaiser Health News report, the study found that despite investing more resources into those patients to reduce readmissions, they were no less likely to avoid readmission within 180 days than those without the extra care.
