Study: ICER Reports Play Major Role in MCOs’ Decisions

Many managed care organizations say they use reports by the Institute for Clinical and Economic Review (ICER) in their decision-making, according to new research by Xcenda.
The research was conducted using data from the FormularyDecisions platform, according to a Managed Healthcare Executive report. Xcenda owns FormularyDecisions.
“It is important to understand how MCOs are utilizing ICER reports so we can understand ICER’s evolving role in payer decision-making and how these assessments may ultimately affect patient access to innovative medications,” co-authors Linnea Tennant and Anne Loos, both of Xcenda, told MHE in an email.
