Study Finds Cost-sharing Assistance Programs Can Save Patients Thousands While Leading to Improved Adherence and Health Outcomes.

According to a recent analysis by IQVIA, chronically ill patients using cost-sharing assistance saved hundreds to thousands of dollars on their out-of-pocket costs in 2019. Manufacturer assistance was used by nearly 1/3rd of commercially insured patients taking brand anticoagulants, diabetes or oncology medicines. More than half of patients taking brand HIV medicines and 70% of patients taking brand multiple sclerosis medicines used manufacturer assistance to help pay their cost sharing. Manufacturer assistance programs are an important source of financial support for many patients facing high out-of-pocket cost burdens and lead to improved treatment adherence and patient outcomes.
