Stakeholders during a recent Health Affairs event in Washington suggested that employers should take a more active role in helping reduce health costs, Healthcare Dive reports.
Inaction from employers, according to Reed Tuckson, former chief of medical affairs at UnitedHealth Group, would leave the door open for legislative action.
“If ‘leave us alone’ is the industry mantra, there is no hope but political solutions,” he said during the event. “And political solutions will be like performing surgery with a sledgehammer.”
