Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center Chief Medical Officer Dr. Jose Baselga last week resigned following reports of his failure to disclose millions in payments from companies in dozens of research articles, the New York Times reported.
In his resignation letter released Thursday, Baselga said he was “extremely proud” to have worked at Memorial Sloan Kettering, and that he hoped the industry would bring about a more standardized disclosure system.
“It is my hope that this situation will inspire a doubling down on transparency in our field,” he wrote.
The resignation was reportedly effective immediately, but Baselga will remain for two weeks to facilitate a smooth transition, according to spokeswoman Christine Hickey.
