Rising Drug Prices in America and What to Do About Them

Drugmakers have become more brazen in their price hikes in recent decades, with one CEO arguing that spiking the price of a widely used 70-year-old drug by 400% was, “a moral requirement.” In a new Forbes Article, Robert Pearl, M.D. describes the unwritten rules that pharma uses to justify such price gouging and how lawmakers can fight back.

According to., “Price escalation is the name of the game for drug manufacturers. From 2008 to 2021, the price of prescription medications has increased 20% per year. By contrast, the rate of overall inflation for that same period ranged from 0.2% to 6.7% per year.”
