Experts say a market without drug rebates has been a topic of much discussion for some time among pharmacy benefit managers, FierceHealthcare reports.
“We’ve been talking about rebates going away for a long, long time,” Navitus Health Solutions Sales and Marketing Senior Vice President Byron Mickle tells FierceHealthcare. “We would prefer that — but from a competitive standpoint you have to stay relevant.”
According to the report, a panel at the World Health Care Congress discussed how a scrapping the rebate model could help bolster efforts on other fronts, including reducing specialty drug costs.
