The Institute for Clinical and Economic Review’s (ICER) recently-announced global initiative to create new and improved value-based pricing strategies is a “clear signal of the internationalization and desire for harmonization of HTA,” according to a recent article published on Pharmaceutical Executive.
The Valuing a Care project seeks to bring together the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) and other HTA agencies to form an international collaborative to develop new assessment methods. According to the report, the initiative is funded by the Commonwealth Fund and the National Institute for Care Management.
“That the collaborative is looking at value-based pricing of cures is also a signal that each agency is mindful of the particular issues that these bring,” the author, health economist and policy expert Leela Barham writes.
