Report: Conferences Move Forward with Plans Despite Coronavirus Concerns

While HIMSS chose to cancel its major health IT conference amid concerns over the coronavirus, other conferences are keeping their schedules in place, according to a Fierce Healthcare report.

Among others, the World Congress of Cardiology (March 28-30) and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons’s annual meeting (March 24-28) are set to kick off on schedule.

“That virus is changing hourly and we couldn’t get an accurate assessment of the risk,” HIMSS Communications Director Karen Groppe told Fierce Healthcare. “If you don’t know the risk, don’t go in there.”
