PhRMA President Discusses Patient Centricity in Value Assessments

President of Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) Foundation Eileen Cannon shared her thoughts on adding a patient-centered component to value assessments. She notes distinctions between traditional measures of outcomes and outcomes reported by patients.

Cannon remarks, “High-quality and efficient healthcare should seek to improve outcomes that matter most to patients and society. Efforts to measure value in healthcare should recognize that the value of an intervention may vary depending on the outcomes it produces in treating a specific disease or according to the characteristics and preferences of the patient.”  Read more here.
