Several major pharmaceutical companies have joined the MediLedger Project, a blockchain-powered platform aimed at addressing inefficiencies in the current supply chain, BlockPublisher reports.
According to the report, Pfizer, McKesson, Amerisource Bergen Corporation and Premier Inc. have signed on for the platform.
“This innovative approach has the potential to transform how chargebacks work for the industry, allowing us to deliver better services to our members,” Premier Inc. Product Strategy and Planning Vice President Bill Marquardt said in a statement. “We are excited to collaborate with our partners to deliver these improvements.”
A report from the Global Pharmaceutical and Life Sciences Industry Group at PwC suggests chargebacks account for a significant slice from gross sales for most drug companies.
