Pharma and HTAs Consider the Potential of DARWIN EU

March 23, 2022

As the EU moves towards pan-European health technology assessment (HTA) harmonization, the European Medicines Agency (EMW) is establishing the Data Analysis and Real World Interrogation Network (DARWIN EU). This coordination center will provide a unified catalogue of real-world data (RWD) sources to power greater use of real-world evidence (RWE) in HTA and health policy decision making. In a new LinkedIn post, Neil Grubert, Independent Global Market Access Consultant, explains how pharma and HTA agencies can make the best use of the promising new resource.

As Grubert explains, “Both regulatory and HTA bodies need a metadata catalogue of resources to allow optimal selection of sources, transparency of observational studies and access to a network of data sources, analytical tools and methodologies to support the generation of RWE. Further work may be needed on registries and other data sources of interest to HTA agencies and payers.”
