According to new pharmacy benefit manager data, U.S. spending on medicine has reached its slowest growth rate in some time.
PBMs say growth last year, after discounts and rebates, was in the single digits, or even slightly negative.
According to Express Scripts, medicine spending grew 1.5 percent last year, which is reportedly the lowest growth they’ve reported since they began tracking spending 25 years ago.
Prime Therapeutics found commercial spending grew -0.2 percent.
