Patients are forced to ring GP surgeries ‘hundreds of times’

Patients trying to contact GP surgeries say they are phoning hundreds of times – including one who made 390 attempts before getting through. They say they are spending hours on the phone to reach doctors, only to be told they cannot have a face-to-face appointment after eventually getting through. One patient said she needed to change some of her husband’s cancer medication and rang Abbey Meads Medical Practice, in Swindon, Wiltshire 390 times to get through.
