Outgoing ISPOR President Isao Kamae Reflects on the Past Year

At the beginning of his final month as ISPOR President, Isao Kamae, DrPH, MD, looks back on the past year at ISPOR. Although his term has been largely virtual, he’s been pleased to lead the first in-person conference since the pandemic started. In his farewell address, he describes the five words he thinks best describe ISPOR: Involved, Scientific, Professional, Outstanding and Resilient.

According to, “The Society has been driving innovation in the field for more than 25 years. And ISPOR has proven its resilience. The pandemic has impacted so much—including healthcare, the economy, research, and HEOR. HEOR has never been more important, and its influence continues to grow. The Society has taken advantage of opportunities during these challenging times to develop new virtual content and ways of connecting and learning. It has been my pleasure to work with an outstanding Board of Directors, Executive Director, and staff in continuing to achieve our mission.”
