Healthcare systems and hospitals posted pricing information for their services beginning January 1st. However, consistency across hospital systems remains lacking. There is much variability in how much and what type of pricing information is posted by different healthcare systems, including the language used in pricing documents. Noncompliance can lead to fines and additional regulations from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
According to Caitlin Sheetz of consulting firm ADVI Health, “Our assessment was this was so new and every hospital seems to be doing it a little differently.” She also remarked that “smaller critical access hospitals may have been more surprised because they are not as up to date on CMS policy.” Learn more here.
