IQVIA’s recent Global Oncology Trends: Innovation, Expansion and Disruption report found the oncology sector has seen both an surge in innovative therapies alongside rising prices, MMIT reports.
According to IQVIA’s report, 17 cancer therapies were launched in 2017. Since 2012, 78 new cancer treatments targeting 24 different types of tumors have been launched.
Spending on cancer treatments, however, reached roughly $50 billion in 2017, with costs expected to double again by 2022.
