Now Available: CDRH Health of Women Strategic Plan

January 24, 2022

The Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH) has released their Health of Women Program Strategic Plan. The plan identifies three program priorities to promote women’s health. First, it proposes to bolster the analysis of sex- and gender-related data to improve medical devices. Next, it seeks to build a more integrated approach to tackle women’s health issues. Finally, it lays out a research roadmap.

According to the FDA, ”The CDRH Health of Women Program recognizes the importance of addressing sex- and gender-specific issues in medical technology design and development, clinical and non-clinical study design, and other medical device-related matters. Our comprehensive program, formalized in 2016, extends beyond reproductive and gynecologic health and considers a woman’s entire body.”
