NICE’s Five-Year Plan Features RWE and RWD

April 29, 2021

Aetion’s Scientific Partnerships Lead Ashley Jaksa discusses the four new strategies released by the UK’s National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE). Its five-year plan incorporates RWE (real world evidence) as clinical trials are forced to reshuffle during the COVID-19 pandemic. NICE plans to collaborate with other organizations so that it can improve RWD (real world data) collection. The institute will also set guidelines for the use of RWE and RWD as part of its strategic plan.

Jaksa remarks, “NICE’s five-year strategic plan is ambitious, but necessary in a rapidly changing environment. The COVID-19 pandemic and the speed of innovation has further highlighted the need for agility and flexibility in health care decision-making. This strategic plan showcases the many ways in which RWE can inform and drive efficiencies in the health care system.” Read more here.
