New EMWA Article Explores Health Economic Evaluations and CHEERS Guidelines

October 5, 2021

An article published in the European Medical Writers Association’s Medical Writing journal explores the role of health economic evaluations in healthcare decision-making. The authors discuss the widely endorsed Consolidated Health Economic Evaluation Reporting Standards (CHEERS), designed to streamline health economic assessments. The CHEERS checklist includes evaluating appropriate drug comparators, efficacy, and outcomes.

The authors remark, “Endorsement of reporting guidelines by journals has been shown to improve reporting of clinical research. The risk of making costly decisions due to poor reporting combined with the lack of mechanisms that promote accountability, makes transparency in reporting economic evaluations especially important and a primary concern among journal editors and decision- makers.” Read the article here.
