More on Surescripts Report
February 20, 2020
A recent PatientEngagementHIT report highlights a survey by Surescripts that found high drug prices caused a little more than half of U.S. patients to avoid taking their medicines.
The survey included input from 1,001 patients.
“A patient’s decision about whether or not to take a prescribed medication shouldn’t come down to how much it will cost and how long it will take to get,” Surescripts CEO Tom Skelton said in a statement. “With access and affordability driving the nationwide healthcare agenda in 2020, it is critical that providers know the cost of a patient’s prescription based on their benefits plan, as well as the price of therapeutic alternatives, at the time they’re writing the prescription.”
