Managed Healthcare Executive has offered its top 10 updates in the world of value-based care based on a recent survey on national payers from Change Healthcare.
According to the report, some 80 percent of U.S. payers have reported improvements in health care quality; 64 percent say they’ve seen better provider relationships; and 73 percent report stronger patient engagement.
Change Healthcare’s Andrei Gonzales says the primary driver of those improvements are coordinated efforts by accountable providers such as a physician practice or accountable care organization.
“This coordination requires collaboration with the provider by the health plan to share data on a patient’s care outside the provider’s practice across the continuum,” he tells MHE. “This results in a better provider relationship. When patients see their care as more coordinated and have better outcomes, they will be more engaged and happy.”
