Bringing about a standardized definition of value is key to pushing forward health technology assessments in the 21st century, a recent opinion piece on Morning Consult states.
Three key questions that must be answered, the author states, are:
- What is value-based health care?
- Why is it so important?
- Why is it difficult to measure?
“Such inquiries are devilishly contentious and complicated,” the author writes. “In order to answer them, academics, government officials, practitioners and patients must agree on, among other things, a pallet of harmonized terminology: a lexicon of value.”
