The founder and CEO of Jeeva Informatics, Harsha Rajasimha, maintains that clinical trials are held back by inefficiency and inadequate patient diversity. Around 85% of clinical trials are delayed, 90% of which are slowed by at least one month. These delays are caused by problems with traditional trial structure and significant underrepresentation of people of color. Rajasimha believes that the cloud-based decentralized approach of Jeeva’s eClinical platform could help improve enrollment and communication between participants and study sites.
In an article on Outsourcing-Pharma.com, Jeeva Informatics’ director of business development, Sharlene Brown, recounted a meeting with a patient foundation leader. The leader told trial operators that a sickle-cell study site in Vermont would be counter-intuitive because the state is 94% white, and sickle-cell primarily affects people of color.
