ISPOR Europe 2021 Poster Highlights: Evidence Base Differences, Cannabis Use in Schizophrenia, and RWD Demographics

December 2, 2021

On day one of the Virtual ISPOR Europe 2021 conference (November 30th), researchers Harrison et al. presented work examining the differences in secondary real-world evidence (RWE) requirements between European health technology assessment (HTA) agencies. Another poster by Patel et al. used EHR to demonstrate the affects of cannabis use in schizophrenia. Finally, Jackson et al. presented their findings on the completeness of demographic data in EHR across several countries.

According to Darcy Hodge of The Evidence Base, “From the datasets, only datasets from the USA included information about race, while none included language. Ethnicity datasets were only populated with the datasets from the USA and UK and 32.01% and 69.43% of the respective datasets had missing ethnicity data. Sex was included in all datasets, but some datasets still reported high missing data. These demographic gaps make it difficult to accurately capture health care data, leading to variations in care quality.”
