ISPOR Discusses Publication Considerations for HEOR Researchers

Accurate and high-quality research is important in making scientific advances. The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted some of the obstacles faced by scientists and research journals. Even high-profile journals have had to issue retractions due to incorrect or misrepresented data. ISPOR discusses challenges when it comes to publishing HEOR research, including preprint servers, open access journals, and the peer review process.

Rick Anderson, University Librarian at Brigham Young University, notes “I think if preprint servers would genuinely retract—which is to say flag and remove—fraudulent and fundamentally unsound science, it would go a long way towards helping to ameliorate the kinds of public health dangers that we’re seeing right now,” adding, “Preprint servers are a sword that cuts both ways. They are both a benefit and a danger to the public. They are both a benefit and a danger to pharma.”  Read more here.
