ISPOR Boosts HEOR in Low & Middle-Income Countries

November 22, 2021

ISPOR pledged to promote HEOR efforts in low- to middle-income countries (LMICs) in its Strategic Plan 2024. LMICs often face difficulties attaining the financial resources for healthcare spending and are disproportionately impacted by events like the global pandemic. ISPOR has long supported HEOR efforts and infrastructure in LMICs to identify and address barriers to access and budgetary concerns. In early 2021, a work group developed a plan of action to evaluate ISPOR’s impact in LMICs to better ISPOR’s efforts.

According to their article, “Looking to the future, program objectives will be balanced between 2 facets of impact—policy and academic—with an overall view to improving healthcare decision making. ISPOR will also develop a communication plan to share the impact of ISPOR’s LMIC program within the ISPOR membership and the broader HEOR and healthcare community.”
