Interview with SGO President: Diverse Gynecologic Oncologists Improve Health Outcomes

March 22, 2022

In a new Pharmacy Times interview, S. Diane Yamada, MD, President of the Society of Gynecologic Oncology (SGO), discusses the SGO’s influence on researchers, healthcare practitioners, and patient outcomes. Members of the group take part in studies ranging from basic research to clinical trials, helping to provide new tools for gynecological oncologists, comprising another large cohort of the organization, deliver cutting-edge medical care.

According to Yamada, “The diversity of the group, of practitioners that we have, and health care team members that we have, I think, also really helps us tremendously. We come at it from different perspectives, different areas of geography, different practice settings, and that allows us to be able to address what some of the barriers are to better health outcomes for our patients. And then I think, certainly with differentiation of our health care teams, and the experience of our members in certain aspects of administration, we have health care leaders in the field that our chief medical officers and cancer center directors can also help to drive the direction of the field in terms of policy and identification of areas of need and network development.”
