Improving Peer Review in Economics

Three experimental economists, Gary Charness (UCSB), Anna Dreber (SSE) and Severine Toussaert (Oxford), are conducting a 15-20 min anonymous survey on peer review in economics. So far, more than 1,000 researchers have completed the survey and they would like to invite you to participate if you haven’t done so already. The aim of this survey is pragmatic: document the current situation and make concrete proposals to improve the process. A report will be widely circulated, and the data will be posted on a website dedicated to this survey: https://evalresearch.weebly.com/

Since peer review works quite differently in economics vs. public health or medicine, it would be particularly useful if health economists could share their views on the merits/downsides of the various systems. You can make your responses at: https://hhs.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_87FKZS74eGhVOrr

You may leave your email address at the end of the survey (collected in a separate link) if you wish to receive the report by email and/or be considered for a $100 prize (cash or gift certificate) that will be randomly allocated to two respondents. Eligible respondents must have over the last two years (i) completed at least one peer review for an economics journal; and (ii) received referee reports on a paper submitted for publication in an economics journal.  Thank you very much in advance for your contribution.
