How Would a Medicare Part D ‘Inflation Penalty’ Impact Drug Spending?

A recent Health Affairs blog post outlines the potential impact of a proposed “inflation penalty” on drug manufacturers when the list prices on drugs paid for by Medicare Part D outpace inflation.

According to the post, the proposed penalty was included in two bills, the Prescription Drug Pricing Reduction Act and Elijah E. Cummings Lower Drug Costs Now Act.
