This article reviews a recent piece published in the New England Journal of Medicine on the topic of health care illusions and medical appropriateness by David Casarette. In medical care a phenomenon known as “therapeutic illusion” effects both doctors and patients and can be the reason for unnecessary procedures, and the positive effects of placebos. Read more here.
