Health Data Giants Datavant and Ciox Health Merge in $7 Billion Deal Amid Shift to Value-Based Care

Datavant and Ciox Health have reached an agreement totaling $7 billion. The two companies will join to under the Datavant name. Together, the data companies have extensive experience in generating real world data (RWD) and in navigating electronic medical records. Ciox Health will bring its 50 million patient records spanning 17,000 healthcare systems. This deal is also expected to drive an industry-wide shift to value-based healthcare.

“Datavant will now provide data services to more than 2,000 U.S. hospitals, 15,000 clinics, 120 health plans and 100 health data analytics companies as well as more than 75 state, local and federal government agencies and a number of life sciences companies. The deal with Datavant will help drive Ciox Health’s growth as the combined company tackles the challenge of health data fragmentation, Pete McCabe, CEO of Ciox Health, who will lead the new company, told Fierce Healthcare.” Read more here.
