Health Affairs Podcast: Why Some Medicare Beneficiaries Aren’t Filling Specialty Drug Rxs

April 13, 2022

As prescription drug prices rise, many patients are forgoing life-saving medications – even when they have insurance. Analysis by the RAND Corporation shows that Americans pay over 2.5 times for prescription drugs than the other 32 nations examined. In a new episode of the Health Affairs Podcast, Stacie Dusetzina sits down to talk about drug pricing and how it affects patient decision-making.

According to the podcast, “She and colleagues published a paper in the April 2022 issue of Health Affairs examining the degree to which people with Medicare prescription drug benefits use the drugs that are prescribed to them. In the paper, the authors found non-initiation rates among some beneficiaries of greater than 50 percent for certain treatments.”
