Former FDA Commissioner Joins Moderna’s Sponsor Flagship Pioneering

Former FDA Commissioner Stephen Hahn has taken a position at venture group Flagship Engineering as CMO of its Pre­emp­tive Med­i­cine and Health Se­cu­ri­ty. Flagship Engineering supported Moderna in its COVID-19 vaccine development, a move that has yielded substantial profits once the FDA granted Emergency Use Authorization for Moderna’s vaccine.

Hahn remarked, “The im­por­tance of in­vest­ing in in­no­va­tion and pre­emp­tive med­i­cine has nev­er been more height­ened,” adding, “In my ca­reer I have been a doc­tor and a re­searcher fore­most and it is an hon­or to join Flag­ship Pi­o­neer­ing in its ef­forts to pri­or­i­tize in­no­va­tion, par­tic­u­lar­ly in its Pre­emp­tive Med­i­cine and Health Se­cu­ri­ty Ini­tia­tive.
