FiercePharma on Monday, Nov. 5, released its 2018 Fiercest Women in Life Sciences list which includes Regeneron’s Hanne Bak, GlaxoSmithKline’s Kate Knobil and Lupin’s Vinita Gupta.
According to a FiercePharma report announcing the list, women have filled about half of the life sciences industry’s positions, but make up only some 20 percent of leadership teams and 10 percent of boards.
Genentech Senior Vice President of Development Sciences Sara Kenkare-Mitra says it’s vital to invest “in the next generation of female — and male — scientists and leaders.”
“We believe that by investing time, expertise and resources in science education, we can help ensure a talented and diverse pipeline of STEM professionals for the future,” she said.
The following women also earned a spot on the 2018 Fiercest Women in Life Sciences list:
- Aoife Brennan, Synlogic
- Beth-Ann Coller, Merck
- Maria Fardis, Iovance Biotherapeutics
- Andrea Miller, Mylan.
