Express Scripts announced a new drug formulary on Tuesday, Nov. 13, which includes lower list prices for brand drugs in a bid to discourage drugmakers from paying rebates after a prescription is filled, Reuters reports.
The National Preferred Flex Formulary, according to the report, will be available to all Express Scripts clients on Jan. 1.
According to the report, Gilead will see two of its therapies on the list.
“This is all in an effort to normalize rebates in the marketplace,” Express Scripts CMO Steve Miller said. “We have talked to dozens of pharmaceutical manufacturers. Many have expressed tremendous interest in this.”
