Europe’s Largest Pharmaceutical Firm Highlights Need for Interoperability

The COVID-19 pandemic brought inadequacies in healthcare systems worldwide to the forefront. One core problem, according to Ehab Youssef, head of Europe North at Roche Pharmaceuticals, is a lack of data interoperability. Improving the compatibility of different data sources, Youssef argues, would help accelerate research, better define value, and reduce costs.

According to Youssef, “Defining the value and what value means for the system, I believe, is something very critical. Mostly due to economic pressure, systems start to realise there is a different way to manage that.”
