Emmy Award-winning Journalist, Epidemiologist, Author and Physician Seema Yasmin Slated to Give ISMPP West 2020 Keynote Address on October 1

Dr. Yasmin received her medical degree from the University of Cambridge and her journalism degree from the University of Toronto. As an officer in the Epidemic Intelligence Service at the U.S. CDC, she investigated outbreaks in prisons, hospitals, and other settings. Her scholarly work focuses on the ways in which public health is negatively impacted by the spread of health misinformation and disinformation. She has written four books including the forthcoming, Viral BS: Medical Myths and Why We Fall for Them.

Dr. Yasmin currently serves as director of the Stanford Health Communication Initiative, is a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Medicine at Stanford University, and a Visiting Professor at the UCLA Anderson School of Management where she teaches crisis communications and leadership. She is also a medical analyst for CNN and a science correspondent for Conde Nast. Her work has been featured in the New York Times, Rolling Stone, WIRED, Scientific American, and other outlets.
