Emergent was Aware of COVID Vaccine Problems Six Weeks Before Alerting FDA

Contrary to what it told the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), a new US House committee revealed that Emergent BioSolutions was aware of contamination problems at its Bayview plant. The company waited six weeks to tell the agency that about contamination of 15 million COVID vaccine doses. The following recall resulted in the destruction of almost 400 million doses.

Rep. James Clyburn (D-S.C.) released a statement saying, “These doses were squandered despite repeated warnings from employees, outside consultants, pharmaceutical companies and FDA regulators that the company’s manufacturing practices were unsafe.”
