Drug Pricing Bill Unlikely With Split Congress

The Republican-led Senate is not likely not go along with Democrats’ plan to let Medicare leverage its substantial buying power to lower drug prices. Democrats are unlikely to agree to Republican proposals that are mostly limited to reducing seniors’ drug costs without lowering prices overall. Moreover, if the Senate remains under GOP control, the Finance Committee would no longer be chaired by Sen. Chuck Grassley (IA), the most ardent Republican supporter of lowering drug prices.
