November 22, 2022

A new article in Bloomberg Government highlighted the role of Meena Seshamani, director of the US Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), in developing the drug pricing reform. Seshamani is working to ensure that the Inflation Reduction Act actually reduces drug prices. Her efforts are being closely watched by the opposition and the pharma industry.

According to Alex Ruoff, “Those who’ve worked with Seshamani say she’s uniquely qualified for the job: she played a significant role in implementing the Affordable Care Act during the Obama administration. She then went into senior leadership at MedStar Health, the largest health-care provider in the Maryland-D.C. area. She’s been in Democratic health policy circles for decades and was part of the Biden transition team at the Department of Health and Human Services.”
